An Open Letter to Breathe Education Students: We See You

Aug 25, 2026

To every Breathe Education student who just had the rug pulled out from under them —

We are so sorry.

We know you didn't choose this. You invested your time, your money, and your passion into building a career as a Pilates instructor. You showed up, did the work, and trusted that the credential at the end would be there waiting for you. Learning that it won't be — that the company you trusted has entered liquidation — is a devastating blow. And you deserve better than that.

We're not affiliated with Breathe Education and we don't have inside information about their liquidation process. But we've spent almost 20 years in this industry, and we wanted to put something useful in front of you — both practically and as an introduction to what we believe Pilates training should look like, in case you're starting to consider your options.

Our Bridge Program for Breathe Education Students

We don't think you should have to start from scratch.

We will review your individual situation — how far you progressed in the Breathe program, what coursework you completed, what hours you logged — and create a customized bridge pathway that honours the work you have already done and provides a fair and practical route to your NEU Pilates certification.

There is no cost to enquire. Reaching out does not commit you to anything.

To apply for the NEU Pilates Bridge Program, email us at [email protected] with the subject line: Breathe Bridge Program. Please include:

  • What type of Pilates certification you were pursuing with Breathe
  • Which portions of the program you completed
  • Approximately how far along you were when Breathe entered liquidation
  • Any assessments, teaching hours, or coursework you had already completed

What We Believe Pilates Training Should Look Like

If you're starting to look at where to go next, here's what we built NEU Pilates around — for what it's worth.

Physio and Pilates, Taught Together

We think Pilates training should be taught by someone who understands the body from a clinical perspective, not just a movement one. That's why every NEU Pilates course is co-taught by a physiotherapist — Jen Gulley, FCAMPT, with over 21 years of clinical experience and the highest manual therapy designation in Canada — and a Pilates instructor — Lara Yanik, with 20+ years of teaching experience — together, in the same lesson, not in separate modules. You get the "how" and the "why" side by side, instead of learning a sequence and hoping the reasoning comes later.

Fascia and the Nervous System, Explained — Not Just Named

A lot of training programs mention fascia. We built ours around it.

Fascia is the connective tissue that wraps around every muscle, organ, and nerve in your body — and it's the bridge between your body and your nervous system. When fascia is tense or dehydrated, the nervous system tends to stay in a low-grade stress response, and that shows up as guarded, limited movement that no amount of cueing alone will change.

Through the NEU Fascia Method, we teach specific release techniques that help rehydrate fascia and shift the nervous system out of that stress state. When that happens, circulation and oxygen flow improve, movement patterns change, and the body has room to actually heal. We didn't add this as a bonus module — it's woven into every course we teach, from Mat through Rehab, because we think it's foundational, not decorative.

This is also where "physio-informed" stops being a marketing phrase and starts being literal. Jen's manual therapy background is built on the idea that mechanics and the nervous system can't really be separated. Lara's decades of teaching are built on the idea that instructors need to feel this in their own body before they can teach it in someone else's.

Real Bodies, Not Just the Easy Ones

We think an instructor's training should prepare them for who actually walks into their studio — postpartum clients, hypermobile clients, clients recovering from injury, aging bodies, deconditioned bodies — not just the bodies that are easiest to teach. That's the entire premise behind our Rehabilitation course, and it's threaded through our other certifications too.

Mentorship as Part of the Curriculum, Not an Add-On

You shouldn't feel like you're figuring it out alone — especially after everything you've just been through. That's why every course includes monthly live Zoom Q&As with Jen and Lara directly, access to an online community, and the option to book privates with us if you want more one-on-one time. We treat support as part of what you're paying for, not something you have to go find elsewhere.

Transparent, With Nothing Buried in Fine Print

You deserve to know exactly what you're paying for, upfront. Our pricing is published, there are no hidden fees, and every course comes with a 7-day money-back guarantee if it turns out not to be the right fit for you.

A Note From Our Co-Founder

"I have spent 21 years watching people heal. I have seen what happens when someone finds the right teacher, the right methodology, the right path for their body and their gifts. That moment of recognition — when a practitioner realizes they have found their people — is one of the greatest privileges of this work.

If Breathe Education was your path, and that path has been taken from you, I want you to know that there is another road. And it might lead you somewhere even more aligned with who you are becoming.

We built NEU Pilates for the practitioners who want to go deeper. If that's you — we'd love to meet you."

— Jen Gulley, Co-Founder, NEU Pilates | Physiotherapist, FCAMPT

We're sorry this happened to you. If we can be useful as you figure out your next step, we are here.
